Raga and Rhythm Ensemble (R.A.R.E.) essentially consists of melodic (close to the heart) and rhythmic (close to the mind) idioms. Starting with musical scales, ragas represent color and emotion associated with their nuances and embellishments expressed in free and structured improvisations and in melodies.Rhythm is not only played solo but also as an accompaniment enhancing the effect of the melodies and structural improvisations. Ragas and rhythms produce unique effects played individually and together. The music of Raga and rhythm ensemble not only covers traditional, folk, devotional and contemporary music of India but also includes fusion music with various Western and Latin forms.
